If you are meeting someone for the first time and don’t want to make it an intimate affair, a breakfast date is a great idea. Get up an hour before you usually wake up and meet your date at a brunch nook or a nice restaurant where they have great coffee and serve a decadent breakfast. Make sure you put in some extra effort with your appearance but since you will be heading for your workplace later, you need not go over the top. The best part about this early date is that it fits very well within a working week and if all goes well, you have given yourself a great start to your day by spending the morning together.

Catch the sunrise

If you both are the outdoor type and don’t mind getting up before dawn, what better way to have a date than watch the sun rise on the horizon. Take a gentle hike through the woods or a familiar mountain trail. Bring along a bag lunch of fruit juice, granola bars and trail mix. And then when you come upon a cozy nook, take a break and enjoy your snack as well as each other’s company while admiring the view before you.

Have a picnic

Make use of a spell of sunny weather to plan a morning date at a park. If you don’t mind a drive, choose one which has a variety of water features, arbors and distinct horticultural areas so that you can enjoy the myriad attractions of nature on a sparkling morning. On the other hand if you don’t feel like venturing too far out from your familiar zone, your neighborhood park will do just as well. Pack a picnic hamper with sandwiches, juice and some tasty treats for dessert. After you have wrapped up the eats, go for a stroll along the walking trail or feed the ducks, all the while having a nice conversation.

Head for the beach

If you are lucky enough to live in a seaside town, plan a morning at the beach. Throw in a blanket, beach umbrella and some sunscreen in the boot of your car and then head out to claim your place on the sand. You could bring along some sandwiches for an early lunch but a far better idea would be to explore the beachside shacks which often turn out to have some very appetizing seafood dishes.

Go to the zoo

A short visit to the zoo would make for a fun morning date idea, especially if it has been years since you have been there. Besides taking a stroll and viewing interesting animals, you can also choose from a variety of foods available at the numerous vendors around the park. If you are not in a rush, you could also attend live events where animals like seals or dolphins perform amazing tricks. Also the bigger zoos in fact have special luncheon areas located in naturally beautiful surroundings to offer a pleasant experience to its visitors.

Enjoy a home-cooked breakfast

If you and your partner are living together and are looking to do something different on a weekend morning, how about planning a home-cooked breakfast for him/her? Get all the ingredients of your sweetie’s favorite breakfast and slip out of bed early to rustle up a special breakfast. It could have a gourmet menu like croissants, baguettes and smoked bacon or be a simple pancake and eggs affair. Just remember to give the layout a special touch, perhaps with clean and crisp napkins, bright crockery and a bunch of flowers. Alternatively you could even serve it in bed only make sure your partner is properly awake to notice your efforts.

Watch a movie

If you don’t mind extending a date to the afternoon, then you can plan it around a daytime movie show. You could meet your partner directly at the movie theater or have a leisurely breakfast first and then follow it up with the show. What makes this a better alternative to the movie-and-a-dinner date idea is the fact that is neither the need to dress up in formals nor the vague stress of dealing with questions of intimacy following the show. And best of all movie tickets during the day are far more easily available and cheaper too than during late evening.

Pursue a common interest

Some of the most enjoyable dates are structured around interests that a couple shares. For instance if it was a love of the arts that brought you and your partner together, how about planning a visit to the town art gallery or the fine arts museum right after their opening time. You will not only find them less crowded but might even be lucky to get an expert opinion from the curator. On the other hand if you both enjoy action, why not go paintballing, ice-skating or horse-riding in the morning. The physical activity will help you to bond with each other and you can always unwind with a steaming cup of coffee later.

Weekend brunch

This is a good idea for couples who are too busy to meet for lunch during the week but at the same time want to avoid the pressures of a dinner date. In fact meeting up for a late morning brunch over the weekend can be the perfect starter date for a couple who are just getting to know each other. If you want to make it a special event, by all means dress up and turn out in your very best for the Sunday brunch. If all goes well, you can even celebrate with a glass of champagne or indulge yourselves with a rich tasty dessert.
